The Holiday Spirit
at this time of year is a concept shared, each in his own way, by may
faiths. Hannakah and Kwanzaa occur this year at about the same time
as the Christian Christmas. Holiday gatherings are always special occasions
but Christmas has always been an extra-special family event for my family.
Traditional tree and house decorations, flavorful once-a-year baked
treats, shopping extravaganzas, and music...especially music! Our Christmas
celebration would never be the same without the piano playing, the caroling,
the recorded background music. It is a time when all of us can be children
once again, recallinging those very special holiday memories and stories.
It would never
be the same without those multiple and varied
interpretations of Clement Clarke Moore's The Night Before Christmas.
One new way to
recite this popular piece would be to adapt it for readers theatre.
My gift to all of you is a scripted version of this jovial poem in its
entirety. It is scripted for five readers and parts may be assigned
at your discretion!
If
you would like a copy, just click here. I'll email the script to you
within a couple of days.
If you use it
during the holidays, do drop me a line --- owilde@noctem.org
--- and let me know how it went.
Family activities
bring families together...what a wonderful way to
celebrate the gifts we all have within us!
...and to all
readers theatre audiences and participants everywhere, my very best
and most sincere holiday wishes!
