"Readers On Stage"
Aaron Shepard does it again!

Aaron Shepard's latest publication comes hard on the heels of his Folktales On Stage, reviewed here last spring. In Shepard's familiar lighthearted style, Readers On Stage distills the world of RT into a highly readable manual for educators and instructors at all levels of the K12 spectrum. Community theatre folks who take the time to peruse the pages of Readers on Stage will gain a greater understanding and appreciation of RT as Theatre.

A scan of the "Contents-Short" offers a quick glimps of what's in store in the 106 pages to come. The Introduction includes a no-answer answer to the question "How do you spell it?", then Part 1 sets the stage with a selection of three performance-ready RT scripts. Part 2 offers tips on scripting, staging and reading. Part 3 contains all you need to know to present a RT workshop with four sections titled Sample Materials List, Sample Outlines, Notes and Handouts, and Scripting Worksheets. Part 4 lists Books and Articles, Suppliers, Training, and Online Resources (which we especially like because Readers Theatre Digest is listed there!)

In the event that you have just returned from a ten-year retreat at a Himalayan hermitage and have never heard of Mr. Shepard, much less his RT web site, go to www.aaronshep.com/rt and get acquainted. You'll also learn how you can own Readers on Stage!

WEB SITES
In future issues
we will be including occasional reviews of exceptional web sites with a strong RT component. If you have discovered such a web site, please tell us about it in an e-mail to editor@readerstheatredigest.com.
